Public art has always been an integral part of Detroit’s historic neighborhoods and their immersive sensory experience.

Following five years of curating the world-famous Murals In The Market Festival, 1XRUN took its mural fest down the street to the Islandview neighborhood thus birthing Murals in Islandview (MIIV).

In its inaugural year, MIIV produced 30+ murals made almost exclusively by Detroit-based artists. Now in year two, we continued our efforts to utilize the power of public art to unify residents, visitors, stakeholders and business owners.

This year, we added 9 murals and 2 installations to the neighborhood along with five days of community centric programming ending with a block party co-sponsored by Gilbert Family Foundation, Design Core Detroit’s Month of Design, Michigan Glass Project, Michigan State University, Hospitality Included, and more.

The week long festival started September 24, 2024 and concluded with a giant Design Core Detroit’s Month of Design block party in front of Spot Lite on Saturday, September 28.

All murals from this years festival are on display and open to the public. Check below for a map of where the murals are located and the artists who participated.
